New Historian Connections for DataHub Version 11

New Historian connections in Cogent DataHub™ version 11, External Historian feature include:

  • Apache Kafka – log data with the External Historian feature, and receive data using Event Streams.
  • Azure Event Hubs – log data with the External Historian feature, and receive data using Event Streams.
  • OPC Classic HDA – send real-time data to any HDA client.
  • ODBC – store real-time data or retrieve it from virtually any SQL-style database.

Kafka and Event Hubs demonstrated in a 2-part video series:

Historian connections allow you to store your data in a compact, easily accessible format in any supported flat-file real-time historian. You can then analyze or display it using any of the historian’s analytical, reporting, or graphing tools, as well as DataHub WebView and OPC UA HDA clients.

Historian connections allow you to:

  • Connect and store data in historians from InfluxDB®, AVEVA™ Historian, AVEVA™ Insight, OSIsoft PI System™, and more.
  • Store the data when a connection goes down, and forward it when it is reestablished.
  • Connect segmented OT and IT networks via DMZs (when combined with the Tunnel/Mirror feature).

Tunnelling Historical Data

You can also send data logged to the InfluxDB historian across a network to any supported historian. The DataHub Tunnel/Mirror feature passes the data securely, even via proxy servers and DMZs. Built-in store-and-forwarding ensures no data losses during network irregularities. Requires no VPNs, and no open inbound firewall ports.
