Sugar Mills

DataHub Use Case

A South American sugar company operating mills in a multiple locations is using DataHub software to mediate redundant networking of data for monitoring and supervisory control of their sugar cane crushing machinery.  They use redundant OPC DA servers to pull data from each machine, and send it across the corporate network to their HMI, using OPC DA tunnelling.

A DataHub instance connected to each OPC server is used to tunnel the data from each redundant pair to a single DataHub instance configured with the Redundancy feature.  That DataHub instance monitors the status of both data paths, and whenever the data quality on either one of them is not “Good,” the DataHub instance changes to the other data path within a few milliseconds. In this way the HMI always receives the highest possible quality of data, ensuring the most accurate and effective control of the system.
