Cogent DataHub™ Use Case
At a newly constructed nuclear power plant in South Asia, data source hardware and software in the plant are limited to OPC Classic (OPC DA and A&E) but data is collected and analyzed on software that only supports OPC UA for live data, and A&C for alarms. So the engineering team uses Cogent DataHub software to convert OPC DA to OPC UA, as well as convert OPC A&E (Classic) to OPC UA Alarms and Conditions.
The team was able to quickly connect a DataHub instance to the OPC Classic servers, and collect both the Data Access (DA) data, as well as the Alarms and Events (A&E). With the DataHub unified-namespace architecture, making the conversion to OPC UA was as simple as connecting their OPC UA clients to the DataHub instance. They are now able to read their OPC DA data as OPC UA, and their A&E data as OPC UA A&C.
